LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY & RESOURCES

LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY AT UUSF
All are welcome at UUSF, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
LGBTQ+ folks are beloved members and friends of our community, and UUSF has a long history of fighting for LGBTQ+ rights.
We center LGBTQ+ experiences, histories, and perspectives across church life, and that inclusion is woven into our Religious Education, fundraising, social justice work, and in worship. UUSF was the first congregation in our denomination to hire an out, gay minister and have LGBTQ+ clergy actively serving and connected to the congregation.
Although it is currently on hold, First UU Society's "Guardian Group" has worked to support LGBTQ+ folks who are seeking asylum in the United States who were persecuted because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
The Unitarian Universalist Association, of which we are a part, also has a long history of celebrating, supporting, and offering resources and witness for the beauty and the rights of our LGBTQ+ folks. See some links to some of that work here.

RESOURCE GUIDE
Beyond our walls, there are many San Francisco organizations that offer support and resources to the LGBTQ+ community. We've compiled a guide to these organizations, grouped by type of support: mental healthcare, addiction treatment, medical services, housing, employment, legal aid, and community building.
